Bail bond answers from licensed California agents
California Bail Bonds FAQ
Common questions about pricing, the process, timing, and special situations
Pricing & Payment
The standard bail bond premium is 10% of the total bail amount, set by California Insurance Code § 1800.4. Some clients qualify for a reduced 8% rate, including veterans, union members, and clients represented by a private attorney.
No — the 10% premium is our non-refundable fee for posting the bond. It is how we are paid and it is regulated by the California Department of Insurance. If bail is exonerated or the case is dismissed, the premium still stays with us.
Yes — we offer flexible payment plans and zero-down options for qualifying clients. We will walk through your situation on the phone, explain the paperwork, and find a plan that works for your family.
We accept cash, credit and debit cards, Zelle, Venmo, and Cash App. We can also accept property as collateral for larger bonds. Everything is itemized in writing — no hidden fees.
The Process
The arrested person's full name, date of birth, and the jail they are in. Charges are helpful but not always required — we can look up the bail amount for you, for free.
No — most of our clients complete the entire process by phone and e-signature. If you prefer to meet in person, we have licensed agents throughout Southern California who can come to you.
A co-signer (indemnitor) is the person who takes financial responsibility for the bond and makes sure the defendant shows up to court. Most co-signers are family members or close friends with steady income or property.
Call us immediately — there is often a short grace period to get the case back on calendar before the bond is forfeited. We will work with you and the court to resolve it before things escalate.
Timing & Availability
Once we post the bond, most people are released within 4-8 hours. Release time depends on the jail — smaller city jails are faster, while large facilities like Twin Towers in Los Angeles take longer. We expedite every release as much as possible.
